creative copenhagen
october 24-27
hi!
i just discovered a new favorite city!! copenhagen was an absolute dream and is the city of the future in my opinion. we arrived on thursday morning after a very comfortable flight. our first stop was a firm visit to BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group - who is involved in many projects within copenhagen, and globally. their new office perches on the tip of a peninsula, overlooking the sea and an assortment of colorful shipping containers at the port. the office floors each covered only half the available space or less, rotated around a central pillar. this created overlapping spaces that facilitated more conversation between levels, and made it feel like one large open space rather than the 6 separate floors. i would have never guessed that the office houses over 300 personnel, and I immediately wanted to be one of them. unfortunately, I am not danish. so they would not hire me. however, i left inspired and impressed.
we settled in to our nicest hostel so far, before walking to the danish architecture museum. here we experienced our first real encounter with danish product design. if you are unfamiliar, i would suggest googling it because it is unparalleled and so so fun. we explored the exhibit and exited through a twisting slide that was way too much fun. the destination for the evening was tivoli: the world’s second oldest amusement park, and inspiration for Disney World. us girls entered into the glowing and well decorated halloween dressed park as the sun went down. I tried bao buns for the first time and was happily rewarded. for ryann’s birthday we celebrated with the haunted mansion.
